Who they were
Frowin was elected Abbot of Engelberg in Switzerland in 1142, succeeding St Adelhelm. He was known for holiness, learning and ability.
He founded a famous school in the abbey, collected a great library and copied books himself. He died on 11 March 1178.
The miracles
Though never formally beatified, he has commonly been called 'Blessed' by the chroniclers.
Why that counted as sanctity
A holy abbot who made his monastery a home of learning and prayer.
