Who they were
Fulbert, of humble parentage, studied at Reims under Gerbert, later Pope Sylvester II. In 990 he opened a school at Chartres that became the most famous in France; his pupils called him 'the venerable Socrates'.
He warned against placing reason above the teaching of the Church and the Bible. In 1007 he became Bishop of Chartres. He died on 10 April 1028 or 1029.

The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe how he came to be honoured as a saint.

A great teacher and bishop who put faith before cleverness.
