Fulcran
French saint bishop

Who they were
Fulcran, of a distinguished family, gave himself to the Church young and led a pure and holy life. Against his will he was made Bishop of Lodève in 949.
He worked for the moral life of clergy and religious, rebuilt churches and monasteries, and founded hospitals for the poor and sick. When a rash word of his seemed to have led to a man's death, he did severe penance and went to Rome for absolution. He died on 13 February 1006 and was honoured as a saint.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A bishop devoted to the poor and sick, and humble enough to do penance for a hasty word.
