Who they were
Gabriel María Sanctus Mompó was a lay brother of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin, born in the town of Benifayó in the province of Valencia in 1866; the decree calls him a humble, cheerful and kindly religious who loved work, and he was put to death at Picasent in the province of Valencia on 16 August 1936.
He was beatified on 11 March 2001 by John Paul II, among Vicente Cabanes Badenas and his eighteen companions of the Third Order Capuchin of the Sorrowful Virgin and the laywoman María del Carmen García Moyon.
