Who they were
Gaudentius was on pilgrimage to Jerusalem when the people of Brescia swore to accept no bishop but him. St Ambrose and other bishops made him return, and he was consecrated about 387, pleading obedience for his youth.
He brought back relics of St John the Baptist, the Apostles and the Forty Martyrs, and enshrined them in a basilica. A friend of St John Chrysostom, he died about 410.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

A bishop chosen by his people's love and obedient to the call.
