Georg Häfner
German priest and martyr (1900–1942)

Who they were
Georg Häfner was born in Würzburg on 19 October 1900 to simple, humble, believing parents and showed a strong call to the priesthood from boyhood. After ordination he served in several parishes and from 12 November 1934 was parish priest of Oberschwarzach.
On 31 October 1941 he was unjustly arrested for 'behaviour hostile to the State', imprisoned in Würzburg and sent to Dachau, where he died of privation on 20 August 1942.
