Who they were
At York in England, Blessed George Douglas, priest and martyr, a Scot by birth, went from being a schoolmaster to being ordained priest at Paris, and under Queen Elizabeth I passed victorious to heaven on the gallows for having persuaded others to embrace the Catholic faith.
The Acta Apostolicae Sedis list him among the martyrs of Scotland as George Douglas, diocesan priest, at York in 1587.
