Georgina Febres-Cordero

Who they were

Georgina Febres Cordero Troconis was born in Mérida, Venezuela, on 16 November 1861 into a distinguished family.

On 15 April 1903 she founded the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Rose of Lima, whose sisters ran schools, hospitals and homes for the vulnerable, especially children and the sick. She was known for great humility, tireless service, a spirit of sacrifice and a deep life of prayer. She died in 1925, and the Archdiocese of Mérida honours her as a Servant of God, with her cause still open.
