Who they were
In the monastery of Châteliers in the territory of Poitiers in France, Blessed Gerald of Salles, who, a poor canon and then an even poorer hermit devoted to an austere life of penance, set many on fire with the love of God, drawing them to the hermit life, and also founded numerous houses of canons regular.
