Who they were

A priest of the Congregation of the Passion, in the world Manuel Pérez Giménez, born on 7 September 1898 at Cornago in the diocese of Calahorra; he was professed on 5 May 1915, ordained in Rome on 22 September 1923, and from July 1935 was rector of the Passionist house at Daimiel. He was shot at Carabanchel Bajo near Madrid on 23 July 1936 with eight companions of his congregation. He was beatified on 1 October 1989 by John Paul II, among Nicéforo Díez Tejerina and twenty-five companions of the Congregation of the Passion.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

The Roman Martyrology names him among the Passionist martyrs of Spain.
