Who they were
At Cagli in the Marche on the Via Flaminia, the passing of Saint Gerontius, bishop of Cervia, who, tradition says, was cruelly killed in this place on his return from a Synod held in Rome.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 9 May as a bishop of Cervia who, tradition says, was killed at Cagli returning from a Synod in Rome.
