Giacomina Monnier

Who they were

Giacomina Monnier was one of the ninety-nine martyrs of Angers, put to death by the guillotine or by shooting in 1793 and 1794; the Roman Martyrology names her among them on 1 February, among the laywomen. She was beatified on 19 February 1984 by Pope John Paul II, with Guillaume Repin and the ninety-eight other martyrs of Angers.

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

She was one of the ninety-nine put to death at Angers and Avrillé in 1793 and 1794 for holding to the Catholic faith.
