Who they were

He was a chaplain of the foundling hospice in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine in Paris. He was one of the 191 martyrs killed in Paris in the first days of September 1792, in the persecution of the Church during the French Revolution, and Pope Pius XI declared him blessed on 17 October 1926.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology for 3 September names him among the blessed martyrs of Paris, and the letter of Pius XI counts him among those put to death in the seminary of Saint-Firmin.
