Gioacchino La Lomia (Gaetano La Lomia)
Sicilian Capuchin priest and missionary in Brazil and Paraguay
Who they were
Born at Canicatti, he took the Capuchin habit in 1852, was ordained in 1855 and went as a missionary to Brazil in 1868, working through the Paraguayan war and founding thirteen villages for indigenous people before ill health brought him back to Sicily.
