Giovanni Battista Piamarta

Who they were
Giovanni Battista Piamarta was born in Brescia on 26 November 1841 to a barber and a devout mother, who died when he was nine. Raised by his grandfather, he was apprenticed to a mattress-maker, and was ordained on 23 December 1865.
Parish priest of Pavone Mella from 1883, he then founded an institute that gave young people religious formation together with a trade, and with it the Congregation of the Holy Family of Nazareth and the Humble Servants of the Lord.
The miracles
An event examined by the medical board on 27 June 1996 and the theologians on 8 December 1996; the cardinals and bishops recognised it as inexplicable and due to his intercession on 4 March 1997, and the decree was promulgated on 8 April 1997.
Why that counted as sanctity
A priest who gave poor boys both faith and a trade.
