Giovanni Bode

Who they were

Giovanni Bode, whose name is also given as Rode, was an Italian lay brother from Mompiano near Brescia, gardener and assistant sacristan; wounded by blows in an underground place where he had taken shelter, he was then scourged and struck with a sword. He was one of Frederick Bachstein and thirteen companions of the Order of Friars Minor killed at Prague on 15 February 1611, and was beatified on 13 October 2012 by Benedict XVI.
