Italian Catholic trade unionist beaten to death near Bologna at twenty-four
Who they were
A young agronomist and Catholic trade unionist who organised farm labourers in the Bolognese countryside. On the evening of 4 November 1948 he was ambushed while cycling home at San Giovanni in Persiceto by three communist militants who beat him to death with clubs.

No miracle has been approved. The cause is at its first stage.
Why that counted as sanctity
The archdiocese of Bologna opened his cause in 1998 at the request of the ACLI circle named after him; the ACLI call him Servant of God and Cardinal Matteo Zuppi has repeatedly celebrated anniversary Masses for him.
