Who they were
Giuseppe Moscati was born at Benevento on 25 July 1880, seventh of nine children of a magistrate; the family moved to Naples, where he made his First Communion in 1888.
A physician and researcher, he never failed in his daily, tireless care of the sick, charged the poorest nothing, and in caring for bodies cared with great love for souls. When he died suddenly on 12 April 1927, aged 46, word spread: 'The holy doctor is dead.'
