At Saintes in Hainaut, at present in Belgian territory, the holy martyrs Reineldis, virgin, and Grimoald and Gondulph, who are said to have been killed by robbers.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 16 July as a martyr at Saintes in Hainaut who, tradition says, was killed by robbers with Saint Reineldis and Saint Grimoald.
