Gregory of Rimini

Who they were

Gregory, an Augustinian of Rimini, became rector of his order's seminary there and then a celebrated professor at the Sorbonne, called the 'Doctor authenticus'. He was a strong champion of the teaching of St Augustine on grace.

In 1357 he became General of the Augustinian Hermits and died at Vienna the next year.

The miracles

Many called him 'Blessed' for his learning and heroic virtue; the Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe a formal cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A theologian admired for learning and virtue.
