Who they were

Ordained in 1964, he was among the first generation of Chilean Schoenstatt priests and founded María Ayuda, which cares for vulnerable and at-risk children; he was known for visiting families by bicycle.

The miracles

No miracle has been approved. The cause is at its first stage.

Why that counted as sanctity

His diocesan beatification process was officially opened on 30 March 2023, and the historical commission supporting the cause was sworn in at the Archbishopric of Santiago on 6 August 2024 before Cardinal Fernando Chomali.

The cause

Hernán Alessandri Morandé is named a Servant of God; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: The cause of Hernán Alessandri Morandé.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
