Hubertus
Christian saint, first bishop of Liège (c.656-727)

Who they were
Hubert, son of the Duke of Aquitaine, lived at court as a lover of pleasure and the hunt. The legend says that hunting on Good Friday he saw a crucifix between a stag's antlers and heard a voice calling him to a holy life, and was sent to St Lambert.
He became Bishop of Maastricht after Lambert's martyrdom, moved the see to Liège, and evangelised the Ardennes. Warned of his death in a vision, he died on 30 May 727 with the Our Father on his lips.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A courtier-huntsman who turned to God and became apostle of the Ardennes.
