Who they were
Clarice Marescotti, daughter of the princes of Vignanello, was born there on 16 March 1585 and dreamed of a comfortable life and a good marriage; the young Marquis Capizzucchi, whom she loved, married her younger sister instead.
After fifteen years amid vain pleasures, following an illness she asked her sisters' forgiveness and stripped herself of everything. She embraced a very hard life and founded confraternities in Viterbo to care for the elderly and adore the Eucharist. She died in 1640 and was at once venerated as a great sinner converted by grace.
