Who they were
Louis Cormier was born at Orléans on 8 December 1832. Called to the Dominicans in the seminary, just after ordination in 1856 he left, to his bishop's tears, for the novitiate at Flavigny, despite haemorrhages that threatened his health.
He was novice master and prior, and as Master General governed the Order of Preachers wisely, greatly promoting the study of theology and spirituality.
