Who they were
At Constantinople, the holy martyrs Hypatius and Asianus, bishops, and Andrew, a priest, who, for having defended the veneration of the sacred images under the emperor Leo the Isaurian, were thrown to the dogs after cruel and dreadful tortures.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 20 September as a bishop at Constantinople who defended the veneration of the sacred images under Leo the Isaurian and was thrown to the dogs.
