Ignacy Dobiasz

Who they were

Ignacy Dobiasz, born at Ciechowice on 14 January 1880, trained in the Salesian houses of study in Italy and was ordained priest in 1908; back in Poland he worked in pastoral and educational posts in several places and from 1931 was sent as a parish assistant to Kraków. He was arrested on 23 May 1941 and deported to Auschwitz, where he died on 27 June of that year from exhaustion and the beatings he had suffered. He was beatified on 6 June 2026 by Pope Leo XIV.
