Who they were
At Srijem in Pannonia, in present-day Croatia, the passion of Saint Irenaeus, bishop and martyr, who, in the time of the emperor Maximian, under the governor Probus, was first scourged, then tortured in prison for many days, and finally completed his martyrdom by beheading.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 6 April as a bishop and martyr of Srijem scourged, tortured and beheaded under Maximian.
