Who they were
Sister Isabel (Josefina Calduch Rovira) was born at Alcalà de Xivert (Chivert) in 1882 and became a Capuchin Poor Clare nun of the monastery of Castellón de la Plana. She stood out for her spirit of sacrifice and penance.
She was killed at Coves de Vinromà (Cuevas de Vinromà) in April 1937. She was declared a martyr in 1999, and Pope John Paul II beatified her in Rome on 11 March 2001 with Aurelio de Vinalesa and his companions, among the 233 martyrs of Valencia.
