Born in Modena in 1517, he served as secretary to the papal nuncio in Spain, founded hospitals and schools, was ordained at 70 and founded the Eucharistic association that bears his name.

Why that counted as sanctity
ACI Prensa calls him the Servant of God Jacobo Gratij, and the Real Oratorio del Caballero de Gracia records that the diocesan process was opened on 14 November 2018 under Cardinal Carlos Osoro, Archbishop of Madrid, and closed on 7 November 2019, the cause now being in Rome.
