Who they were
At Berlin, at Plötzensee in Germany, Blessed Jakob Gapp, priest of the Society of Mary and martyr, who firmly proclaimed that the impious decisions of a regime hostile to human and Christian dignity could in no way be reconciled with Christian doctrine; for this he was persecuted and condemned to exile in France and Spain and, arrested by enemy agents, was finally beheaded.

Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 13 August as a Marianist priest and martyr beheaded at Plötzensee for opposing a regime hostile to Christian doctrine.
