Who they were
John Baptist Zola, a priest of the Society of Jesus, was one of the eight companions of Blessed Francisco Pacheco condemned to the stake at Nagasaki out of hatred for the faith. He died on 20 June 1626.
He is one of the 205 martyrs killed in Japan for the Catholic faith between 1617 and 1632 whom Pius IX declared Blessed on 7 July 1867.
