Who they were
In the stretch of sea off Rochefort in France, Blessed Jean-Baptiste Xavier (Jean-Louis) Loir, priest of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin and martyr, who, during the French Revolution, imprisoned when nearly eighty in a galley for his priesthood, was found dead on his knees.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 19 May as a Capuchin priest and martyr who died on a prison ship off Rochefort during the French Revolution.
