Jean Mestre

Who they were

Jean Mestre was a layman born in Paris on 14 July 1924 and baptised on 22 July; he found work as a turner and joined the Young Christian Workers of La Goutte d'Or, where he showed himself in love with Jesus Christ. Called up by the compulsory labour service on 5 March 1943 and sent to Brunswick, he was arrested in March 1944 and died at Brunswick on 4 May of that year, aged 19. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
