At Paris in France, the passion of the blessed martyrs Jean-Marie du Lau d'Allemans, François-Joseph and Pierre-Louis de La Rochefoucauld, bishops, and ninety-three companions, clerics or religious, who, gathered in the convent of the Carmelites, were slaughtered for Christ out of hatred for religion because they had refused to take the impious oath imposed on the clergy during the French Revolution.
