Jean Tinturier

Who they were

Jean Tinturier was a seminarian of Bourges, born at Vierzon on 20 February 1921 and baptised there on 27 February; he entered the minor seminary of Langres and in 1938 went on to the major seminary of Issy-les-Moulineaux. He left with the compulsory labour service on 21 September 1943 for Schmalkalden, and because he moved about constantly to carry on the apostolate he drew the attention of the police, who arrested him on 19 April 1944; he died at Mauthausen on 16 March 1945, aged 24. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
