At Córdoba in Andalusia in Spain, the holy martyrs Emila, deacon, and Jeremiah, who, during the persecution by the Moors, after being long left to rot in prison, completed their martyrdom for Christ by beheading.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 September as a martyr at Córdoba who, after a long imprisonment under the Moors, was beheaded for Christ.
