Who they were
Ion Kostist was born at Tzazo in Romania on 29 June 1556 and came to Italy at eighteen in 1574, a bridge between East and West. He became a Capuchin, Brother Jeremiah, drawing his whole inner life from prayer.
For forty years without a break he nursed the sick with charity and joy, saying that one must imitate the generosity of the heavenly Father and give freely what one has freely received.
