Who they were
The commemoration of Saint Jeremiah, prophet, who in the time of Jehoiakim and Zedekiah, kings of Judah, foretelling the destruction of the Holy City and the deportation of the people, suffered many persecutions; for this reason the Church has seen in him the figure of the suffering Christ. He foretold also the fulfilment of the new and everlasting Covenant in Jesus Christ, through whom the almighty Father would write his law deep in the hearts of the children of Israel, so that he might be their God and they his people.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 1 May as the prophet who foretold the destruction of the Holy City and the new and everlasting Covenant, and who suffered many persecutions.
