Who they were

Father João de Deus Kamtedza, a Jesuit born in Angónia in Tete province, was killed on 30 October 1985 near the mission residence of Chapotera together with the Portuguese Jesuit Sílvio Alves Moreira; their bodies were found on 4 November. Vatican News calls them Servants of God.

The miracles

No miracle has been approved. The cause is at its first stage.

Why that counted as sanctity

The joint cause for their martyrdom opened in the diocese of Tete on 20 November 2021, witnesses were heard from January 2022 to June 2023, and the diocesan phase closed on 12 August 2023 at the diocesan shrine of Zóbuè.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
