Who they were
Joaquín Berruezo Prieto was born on 15 January 1899 in the village of Olula de Castro, in the province and diocese of Almería, and was ordained priest in 1921.
He was killed at Pozo de la Lagarta on 31 August 1936, and was beatified on 25 March 2017 by Pope Francis, among the companions of José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre.
