Who they were
Brother Ireneo Jacinto (Joaquín Rodríguez Bueno) was born at Mazuelo de Muñó, in the province of Burgos, on 20 August 1910, and made his perpetual vows as a Brother of the Christian Schools in 1935. After a time in Cádiz he was sent to teach in Madrid, at the school of Santa Susana. Recognised as a religious when the persecution broke out, he was arrested and killed in July 1936.
Pope Benedict XVI declared him a martyr in 2011, and he was beatified at Tarragona on 13 October 2013 with his companions.

Why that counted as sanctity
One of sixteen De La Salle Brothers killed in Madrid in the religious persecution of 1936-1937, beatified as martyrs in 2013.
