John Almond
English priest, martyr, and saint

Who they were
John Almond, born near Liverpool about 1577 and raised partly in Ireland, studied at the English College in Rome, where he brilliantly defended theses before Cardinal Baronius.
He was remembered as a reprover of sin, sharp in argument yet modest, full of courage and ready to suffer for Christ. Arrested in 1608 and again in 1612, he was executed at Tyburn on 5 December 1612, dying with the Holy Name on his lips.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
