John Finglow

Who they were

John Fingley, born near Howden in Yorkshire, was ordained at Reims in 1581 and sent to England, where he worked in the north.

Seized and held in hard conditions at York, he was condemned for being a priest and reconciling people to the Catholic faith, and executed at York on 8 August 1586.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
