John of Sahagún

Who they were
John was born in 1419 at Sahagún in the Kingdom of León, eldest of seven children. The bishop of Burgos took him into his household, ordained him in 1445 and gave him several benefices, but out of respect for Church law John gave them all up except one chaplaincy. He studied theology at Salamanca and ministered there for nine years.
Vowing during a serious illness to become a religious, he joined the Augustinian Hermits at Salamanca in 1464, becoming master of novices and in 1471 prior. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, could read consciences, and was remarkably successful in ending feuds and enmities. He died at Salamanca on 11 June 1479.

Why that counted as sanctity
John of Sahagún gave up comfortable Church income for conscience' sake, and as a friar spent himself reconciling enemies and bringing sinners to confession.
