Who they were
At Trogir in Dalmatia, in present-day Croatia, Saint John, bishop, who, a hermit in the Camaldolese monastery of Osor, after ordination to the episcopal ministry successfully defended the city from the attack of King Coloman.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 14 November as a Camaldolese hermit who became bishop of Trogir and defended the city against King Coloman.
