John Shert

Who they were

John Shert, of Cheshire, graduated at Brasenose, Oxford, in 1566 and was a schoolmaster in London. He went to Douai, and was ordained in Rome as one of the first scholars of the English College.

He left for England in 1579 and was sent to the Tower in 1581.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

One of the first priests of the English College, who died for the Faith.
