Who they were
In the territory of Daegu in Korea, the holy martyr Saint John Yi Yun-il: father of a family, farmer and catechist, having overcome beatings and the breaking of his limbs, he remained firm in the Christian faith and with a serene spirit received martyrdom by beheading, the last victim of the great persecution carried out in this nation.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 21 January as a catechist beheaded at Daegu, the last victim of the great persecution in Korea.
