Jorge Murcia Riaño
Colombian priest who founded the Sisters of Saint John the Evangelist (Hermanas Juanistas)
Who they were
The congregation now works in Colombia, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Haiti.
The miracles
No miracle has been approved. The cause is at its first stage.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Catholic weekly Vida Nueva describes him as a priest of the Archdiocese of Bogotá whose cause is in process, and reports that he founded the Hermanas Juanistas in 1932, inspired by the Young Christian Workers. The diocesan inquiry was opened in Bogotá on 8 December 2007.
The cause
The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.
