Who they were

Jorja Perea was born at Villanueva de Alcardete in the province of Toledo, was orphaned young and married Cándido Avendaño at 25; they had five children, one of whom, José María Avendaño Perea, was made auxiliary bishop of Getafe in 2023. Her son says she could not read but knew the Gospel.

The miracles

No miracle has been approved. The cause is at its first stage.

Why that counted as sanctity

The diocesan phase of her cause was opened in the archdiocese of Toledo on 21 July 2022 and the Church is examining reported unexplained cures attributed to her intercession.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
