José Frías Ruiz

Who they were

José Frías Ruiz was born at Comares on 23 April 1902 and ordained priest on 25 May 1929; taken into custody, he was killed on 30 July 1936. He was beatified on 26 February 2022 by Pope Francis among Cayetano Giménez Martín and fifteen companions.

The decree on martyrdom records that he was put to death in hatred of the faith during the persecution of the Church in Spain.
